    About the artist

"The goal of my artwork is to illustrate emotional moments that shape us. I use universal symbols to stand in for everyday experiences and to encourage the viewer to create symbols that may represent events within their life."

Cynthia Lizardi was born in Germany in a U.S. military hospital and grew up in Safety Harbor, Florida. She created countless stories and cartoons before formalizing her art education at Pinellas County Center for the Arts in St. Petersburg, Florida and attaining her Bachelor’s in Art Studio from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida in 2006.

Cynthia completed her Odyssey series in the summer of 2017 with the piece "Into the Cave". In Odyssey, she represented turning points in her life to discuss the power and stigma of mental health and the resiliency of a human life. She is working on her Cancer series, combining limited palettes, texture, subliminal imagery, and symbolism to talk about her family's experiences with the monster that is Cancer. Each work in the Cancer series begins with an ink painting to lay the groundwork for each mixed media acrylic piece.

Cynthia has shown her works at local businesses and art centers throughout the Tampa Bay area, and serves as Director of Exhibitions for Tampa Regional Artists. She lives in Tampa with her husband Victor, silly puppy Baldur and her son Victor.
