    About the artist

    Lezzueck Asturias Coosemans is a Guatemalan painter and photographer. He studied architecture at his birthplace. In 1998 he travels to Costa Rica, where he discovers his vocation and dedication to art, practicing oil and acrylic painting.

    In 1999 he travels to Germany for a mural on the metro station "Plaerrer" in Nürnberg, Germany. A year later, he began his studies at the "Bauhaus-Universität" in Weimar, Germany, where he got a Bachelor of Fine art with a specialization in Conceptual Art, Painting and Photography in 2006.

    Asturias Coosemans has made 24 solo exhibitions and has participated in various group exhibitions from 1998 to the present. His artworks are in private collections and in European and American art institutions.

    Among his recognitions are: two special awards in the Photo Contest "LandesFotoSchau-Thüringen", 2014. In 2012 an invitation to submit his artwork in "Latin American Contemporary Art" organized by GIZ, Germany. A honorable nomination in the photo contest "iPhone-Photography Awards" in 2012. A special nomination in a painting competition "Eb Dietzsch" in Gera, Germany, 2008. Prizes for their work in the contest "Young Talents" organized by Faber-Castell, Germany in 2000. An invitation to participate in the "Art Fair" in Erlangen, Germany in 1999.

    From 2006 to 2007 he planned, organized and conducted exhibitions in Weimar and Erfurt of guest artists like Sergio Carmona (Colombia), photographers Liliana Contreras (Argentina) and André Künßler (Germany) among others.

    From 2008 he teaches painting and drawing in "Mal-und Zeichenschule" in Weimar, Germany.
