I am a writer, an artist,an inventor,an athlete,a philosopher,a poet and an owner of a cat named Bono because I love the band U2, among other things. I live with Crohn’s (A chronic inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lining of the digestive tract) and Peripheral Neuropathy, a neurological chronic extremey painful disease. I love creating whether its an idea, writing or creating art. I don’t paint but I do create art digitally and have been doing so for 20 years now. Finally most people are on board with digital art being an acceptable medium. I think people that can paint are truly gifted and I Didn’t say I respect the skills of a painter but I also think that with digital or new media has it’s place in art too. Now I can finally come out of the closet and call my self a proud artist. Nurturing my creative side does not take away my pain, but it helps me to push through it and live my life in spite of it. Some days are tougher than others but there is never one day of no pain so you have to learn how to deal with something that does not come with a manual because both diseases are un curable and chronically painful.
My name is Nicolas Efthimiou Nixo, known in the art world just as Nixo I am extremely passionate about soccer and art and has been doing both for as long as I can remember. I received a soccer scholarship to the the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Chapel and graduated in 1990 with bachelors degree in journalism and a minor in fun. After college I was drafted to play professional soccer and played for 9 years before retiring. I played soccer and created art on T-Shirts for years but only after I retired from being a professional athlete did I focus 100% on my art career. I have taken too many art classes to remember, won many awards and had many showings but thats all water under the bridge because thats the past and I always look forward and ask myself what have I done lately to continue learning and becoming a better artist. With all that said I am basically a self taught artist especially in new media.
I use extremely bright colors for the most part unless I'm doing a black and white portrait. I have been told I have an amazing portfolio that has been created almost entirely now in new media and photographic manipulation. Many are surprised to hear that I create digital art because they don’t look digital. There are many software that allow you to paint because I love being able to create art without the mess of oils, acrylics and with digital art I can easily offer my art in many different color variations especially when I do commissioned work. I am still learning as I go and my art continues to evolve and hopes that people will embrace this new medium because I love creating whether its art or writing.
Not until recently have I mainly pursued an art career completely in new new media. My portfolio is now almost 100% digital. Lastly it’s also more economical because as an artist I can create more pieces by showing different color variations along with a lot more different content than one could of, especially if I potentially lose a customer just because it wasn't created in colors that perhaps were not their favorite. I serigraph (which is basically a fancy word for screen printing) all of my art onto canvas and fine art arches paper. Each piece of art is numbered and signed with a certificate of authenticity. I also creates original reproductions from my original art which starts with the digital image being printed on to canvas and fine art environmentally friendly arches paper which by a Giclee printer.
I hope you enjoy my art as much as I did, making it and I just wanted to finish by saying that I’m here for you, and you can always contact me directly for commissioned work of your pet(s) and portraits by emailing me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
I do my best to respond to all emails (it’s getting tougher as my artwork gains in popularity, but I will always do my best to respond!). And I don’t hold myself above anybody. I’m not special; I’m just a guy who likes to work hard, work smart, and use the influence I have online to make my art and be a part of this collaboration of artists creating art in new media especially now, in its infancy, even though Andy Warhol created some of his more popular mainstream in new media especially his famous artworks like Marylyn Monroe and the famous Cambell's soup can.
Thank you so much for your support. And if you’ve made it this far, I’d love for you to come say hi to me on my Facebook Page. I’ll definitely respond, and I look forward to meeting you! Cheers!
