    About the artist

    1990: Born in Tudela

Rafael Munárriz explores social and political issues by reconstructing reality in order to transform the observer's perspective. He pursues his projects in different languages and through varying mediums, which he alternately defines as installations, interventions or documented actions. The result is a work that is straightforward and compelling, that represents a rediscovery of its own self.

Munárriz studied at the ABK Stuttgart and the Art Institute of Chicago with Erasmus and Bancaja scholarships Erasmus, respectively.

Currently he is completing his last year of the Licenciatura or Master of Fine Arts at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

In recent years his work has received numerous awards and recognitions among which we would like to mention his selection for INJUVE 2012, Circuitos 2011 of the Comunidad de Madrid and the Premio Encuentros Navarra 2012.

He has participated in Artist Work Spaces "El Ranchito" which forms part of the platform for university artists, Intransit.

His work can be seen in different exhibits nationally, such as the Matadero de Madrid, the Museo de la Universidad de Navarra, the Centro Huarte and La Tabacalera, and internationally at the Mumok in Vienna and the Sullivan Galleries in Chicago.
