My desire and challenge as a painter is to create emotion through the use of color. I am inspired by the complexities of color and how color fields intertwined and overlapped create harmonious and often, unexpected dimensions. In my paintings, I explore how compositions change through layering and fusing color, creating an exciting interplay that will stimulate and envelop the viewer. Spaces of clarity juxtapose spaces of ambiguity, and spaces of vibrancy contrast spaces of calm. I have been most influenced by those artists who have an undeniable command and brilliant use of color such as: Josef Albers, Nicolas de Stael, Diebenkorn and David Hockney.
