New Yorker. Currently living in Dublin.
Paint on flat surfaces, mostly. Some varieties of abstraction,
art concret (where everything began for me, years ago),
photographs, found objects, stolen objects, things I can’t be rid of
in any other way, things I refuse to surrender, etc.
Acrylic, oil, pencil, ink, pastel, crayon, plaster, spit, etc., plus digital graphics (whatever I can make a Mac do) – i.e., pretty much anything lying about the studio – or, if discovered elsewhere, looks interesting and isn’t nailed down (or can be easily pried off) – plus accidents,
neglect, theft, confusion, despair, etc.
Long, uncomfortable pauses.
New materials constantly being discovered.
“There is only one way left to escape the alienation of present day
society: to retreat ahead of it.”
– Roland Barthes, The Pleasure of the Text
