    Information

The work of Henrik Plenge Jakobsen develops around socio-cultural and political in many forms, such as sculpture, installation or performance. The artist here has initiated a series of sculptural were filmed during the summer solstice on the shores of mythological islands in the Baltic Sea. "For a long time I wanted to explore the Baltic Sea. Starting instincts purely idiosyncratic, this research was to engage the path to the most liberating possible. I live in Copenhagen and the Baltic Sea just outside my door. I've always been intrigued by the mixture of fresh and salt water, as well as its role in the history of Northern Europe, fishing, trade, war, and more recently in the area of ??culture and leisure.

Baltic, which has many features in terms of biology, hydrology and geology, has undergone several stages since the last glaciation. If the water is now brackish constant change due to the rise and fall of successive levels over the millennia have evolved from a simple freshwater lake, a sea whose rate salinity close to that of the Atlantic.

I initiated a series of sculptural were filmed during the summer solstice on the shores of a number of Swedish and Danish mythological islands in the Baltic. Players play with and against the main protagonists are the coastal landscape and the sea itself. The water level is then mounted down during prehistory, all the action takes place at the site of ancient seabed. They were shot between the current and the former shore line of the coast.

This trip was a mental exercise, romantic impetus and encouragement to freedom in a report to the textures, rituals, alienation and immediately before and after the speech. "
