InformationArt and Science is a theme that Fotomuseum Winterthur has often addressed, in exhibitions covering the photography of the invisible, the boundary between science and fiction, and medical photographs in Japanese medicine around 1900. This exhibition (in the context of Rare Earths – Kunstherbst Winterthur) examines the close, but also tenuous relationship between photography and science from documentation to taxonomy, to systems of order, to scientific posturing and the theater of science. Addressing such issues, the exhibition crosses the photography of science with the science of photography, and is exploring the various possibilities of seeing through photography. The world is fragmented into countless individual perspectives, which, in turn bring about countless actions that all help to generate the world. In its multiplicity, photography offers so many perspectives.
