ACE Gallery is very pleased to announce the publication and release of the book titled: GISELA COLÓN, a 168-page hardcover edition, photographed by Philipp Scholz Rittermann, containing over 90 color plates, featuring the body of work called “PODS.” The book is authored by Hunter Drohojowska-Philp, an art historian who wrote the definitive biography on Georgia O’Keefe, the monograph on veteran light & space artist Craig Kauffman, as well as the seminal Los Angeles art history book “Rebels in Paradise” which chronicles the development of the art scene in Southern California in the 1960s.
In addition to Hunter Drohojowska-Philp’s thoughtful essay, the book contains writing by Colón, detailing her process of discovery titled “Notes, Thoughts, Observations Towards the Development, Conceptualization, and Creation of Non-Specific Objects.”
Colón has exhibited at national and international venues. Colón’s work will be the subject of several forthcoming solo museum exhibitions: The Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio, September to December 2015; Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, January to February 2016; and the Castellani Art Museum, Niagara, New York, September 2016. Most Recently, her work was exhibited at the Kunstmuseum Wilhelm-Morgner Haus, Soest, Germany, 2014.
