Join us for a conversation between artist Larry Bell and Tim Marlow, Director of Exhibitions at White Cube.

Larry Bell is one of the most noteworthy representatives of abstract art in the postwar period, whose career has spanned four decades and has given him an audience in all the major art centers of the world. His medium, 'light on surface', has often utilised the technology of thin deposition of vaporized metal films. Bell's work has evolved in a number of directions beginning with constructions, glass boxes, and standing wall glass panel sculptures. Other bodies of work include Vapor Drawings, Mirage Works (collages) on paper and canvas, Furniture De Lux, Sumer, a series of calligraphic bronze sculptures cast up to 30 ft in height, and Fractions, a recent investigation (collages) totaling more than 10,000 small works on paper.

Bell exhibits extensively in museums and galleries internationally and nationally, has been awarded numerous public art commissions, was the recipient of the NM Governor's Award for Excellence and Achievement in the Arts, 1990, and is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Musee d'Art Contemporain, Lyon, France, Whitney Museum of American Art, and Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, Progressive Insurance Corporation, Myers Development Co., among many others. Bell recently installed two large-scale bronze sculptures in Orange County, CA., and a 30 ft. tall bronze sculpture in Hong Kong.

Tim Marlow has been Director of Exhibitions at White Cube since 2003. Over the last decade, he has worked with some of the most important and influential artists of our time including Chuck Close, Jake & Dinos Chapman, Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst, Anselm Kiefer and Doris Salcedo.

He is also an award-winning radio and television broadcaster. He has presented over 100 documentaries on British Television and his most recent series Tim Marlow on… has been broadcast on Sky Arts and BBC World. Tim was the founder editor of Tate magazine and is the author of numerous books and catalogues. He has lectured on art and culture in more than forty countries.
