InformationThe exhibition Insomnia shows some aspects of the cinema, understood as an artistic discipline, which have become subjects of research and exploration for artists. It includes works from the 1960s to the present.
In the context of art spaces -museums and galleries- artists have put forward alternative ways of conceiving and working with the cinema as a discipline. The inclusion of these works, produced mostly on video and cinema, has modified the conventions and grammars of the exhibition. For these authors, the screening of films is dissociated from the projection room and occupies the space of the spectator, where the relation with the image invites the participation of the visitor.
At the same time, new links are created between the fixed image -photography- and the moving image that favour the possibility of constructing a narrative, while relating to the notions of time and duration. The experimental attitude of these artists drives them to formulate new architectures for conventional cinemas that are often destined to remain as unrealised projects.
