    Information

With two different perspectives yet one roll of film, Victoria & Victoria collaborate in a series of double exposures that celebrate connection. This chapter of layers of synergy takes its name from EB White’s essay “Here is New York” from 1949, where he wrote: “the island of Manhattan is without any doubt the greatest human concentrate on earth, the poem whose magic is comprehensible to millions of permanent residents but whose full meaning will always remain elusive.” At a time when the world looks inwards and acts by principles of individualization and separatism, Victoria & Victoria use their photographic process as a metaphor to celebrate our human interdependence, a quality embodied by the city of New York.

Victoria Campa & Victoria Zavala Carvajal
Born under the same name, with 1 year of difference, Victoria & Victoria meet in school in Madrid. Later on, without planning it, they will both attend Barnard College in Columbia University and separately fall in love with photography in New York. Campa will graduate in Computer Sciences and Zavala will do her Bachelor’s in History of Art. In an ode to New York, during their last year there, they have tirelessly shooted rolls of film and exchanged them. Their work has been shown in the McGagg Gallery in New York and it is now presented in _2B space to be, Madrid.
