A quick trip of less than twenty kilometers was the last trip of Gerda Taro. The photojournalist who had immortalized so many moments with her camera could not reflect this landscape, as she was seriously wounded in the ambulance that transported her from Brunete’s Front to the El Escorial’s hospital through a path of war, of desolation, of escape ... During his last moments of life the emptiness had taken over his mind, unable to capture any image. If it had not been like that I like to think that, although veiled and distorted, they might have looked like these “Last Looks”.

Memory and invisibility are common concepts in my photographic work, on which this series is also structured and which was born with the intention of paying homage to the young German woman who began her artistic learning with her partner André Friedman, with whom she would later invent the character of Robert Capa under whose name they presented both their works. His untimely death, of which eighty years have passed, prevented the development of a career that was promised brilliant. It is the short story of one more invisible that left a part of his work and his idea in the shelter of this famous pseudonym.
