InformationDuring the 20th century the Colombian art opens in the most varied directions, freely combining trends, tastes and inclinations in such a way that evidence of plurality in creative activity. Traditionalists works, landscapes and still lifes were the protagonists by excellence for several decades; from there, and with the support and guidance of the teachers of the schools who had direct access to trends and Western of beginning of century avant-gardes at some time of his life, the Colombian plastic was becoming increasingly more autonomy, consistency and vigor.
The regulatory principles of the so-called artistic avant-gardes of the 20th century, such as Impressionism, Expressionist and geometric abstraction, pop, surrealism, hyper-realism, Expressionism and figuration is adapted to our culture and our needs for experimentation resulting in a multiplicity of proposals that enjoyed wide recognition, both nationally and internationally in the majority of cases.
With this exhibition, which has become a constant in the annual programming of The Museum Gallery, we want to pay tribute to the most important artists of the 20th century. These teachers, which eventually became the main representatives of plastic processes of his era, today are reference point for generations of artists today. His talent has marked the history of the national art and they have been decisive factors in the development of contemporary plastic arts in Colombia.
For this year the Museum Gallery has selected representative works of some Colombian artists who over the years consolidated an important career in the national and international context of plastic. The exhibition has works of masters such as Guillermo Wiedemann, Noe Leon, Luciano Jaramillo, Alejandro Obregón, Carlos Rojas, Enrique Grau, Juan Antonio Roda, Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar, Debora Arango, Jim Amaral, Fernando Botero, David Manzur, Ana Mercedes Hoyos, Hugo Zapata, Feliza Bursztyn, Edgar Negret, Santiago Cárdenas and Álvaro Barrios, among others. In space 2 of the Museum Gallery, this year graphic works by renowned artists of international career will be presented, and simultaneous works of masters will be presented in the space of the Museum Art/Gallery market located in the Centro de Diseño Portobelo, in order to give the sample a more complete character both plastic and thematic level.
The "Masters" exhibition will be open to the public until January 21, 2013
