Despite being the most unknown part of its funds, the CA2M Dos de Mayo Art Center contains an important amount of graphic work. This represents his second collection more numerous, after the one of photography. Even so, it is the object of a minor expositive visibility, and that has serial work signed by great references of contemporary art.

With the intention of approaching the collection in a different way, CA2M has invited the artist Oriol Vilanova to take part in the graphic work part. An artist whose work bases his conceptual strategy on the reflection on collecting, its order and the ways of exposing it. Through a methodology of work focused on the collection and documentation of images, it proposes the archive as a deconstruction of the unique story of the past, considering the traditional museum an exhibition space in disuse, and implying its rethinking as a necessary place where to reconsider the practices and narratives Established.

Oriol Vilanova, an architect and resident in Brussels, proposes several interventions that disrupt our way of conceiving a sample collection. The first consists of a closet architecture that collects all the graphic work of CA2M in the smallest possible space to be displayed, a kind of epic cabinet of curiosities. The second intervention, antagonistic to the previous one, is presented as an installation where empty showcases are collected from different museums in Madrid, which, by absence, tell us about themselves.

Oriol Vilanova (Manresa, 1980) lives and works in Brussels. Traces and markets are his favorite areas of research, thanks to which he has built a collection of postcards that he uses as a "thinking machine" and which has become a conceptual basis for his plays, installations and performances.
