The exhibition is conceived as an environment which combines detection technologies and audiovisual explorations in real time. Through the use of "live cams" and tracking systems, attempts to realize computerized surveillance, making technological observation in a tangible way. Far from being a moralising commentary on the character Orwellian surveillance devices, the work of Rafael Lozano-Hemmer presents technology as an inevitable and omnipresent language of globalization. Detectors aims to create critical experiences and accomplices through ambiguity, otherness, the repetition. The public, through their presence and behavior, automatically controlled light environments, video recordings, kinetic sculptures and algorithmic animations, which constitute the materials of the exhibition. To transgress surveillance systems through his artistic process, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer becomes an integral part of the work, between the seduction of customization and control predatory violence to the observer.
