InformationThe Australian sculptor comes to Wolverhampton for an exhibition of his hyperrealist figures, from a tiny couple to a giant face.
Born to German toymakers and trained at Jim Henson's Creature Shop, Ron Mueck began his career creating models for films, including Labyrinth. Turning his hand to fine art, Mueck's career took off when his mother-in-law, Paula Rego, introduced him to Charles Saatchi, who took an instant liking to his hyperrealist sculptures of human beings.
Shows at the Royal Academy, Millennium Dome and Venice Biennale followed, and in 1999 Mueck was appointed Associate Artist at the National Gallery. This exhibition brings together his sculptures from the Artist Rooms collection, from the miniature Spooning Couple to his gigantic Mask III.
