Tim Woolcock is one of our finest, yet inadequately recognised Modern British colourists.” Joanna Pitman, The Times.

Ransom Gallery at 105, Pimlico Road will be hosting an exhibition of Tim’s new work, with the opening at 5pm Tuesday 25th June.

Tim is a Modern British artist painting in the tradition of the 1950s. His two themes are abstractions and landscape abstractions, often based on environs in Ireland, where he spends time painting in his studio there. A consummate colourist, he uses hand-made Michael Harding pigments. His paintings are made up of rich blocks of colour, which are often scratched or scored.

Tim’s work is simultaneously simple and complex, yet defies interpretation. His paintings generate lasting interest and appeal. As the art critic Carole Cordey writes: his paintings’ “lack of natural representation provides us with space for contemplation and for our own interpretation of the world…it facilitates freedom of expression for both the artist and the viewer.”

The Ransom Galleries (105 & 62/64 Pimlico Road, London SW1W 8LS) have been representing Tim exclusively since 2007. He has generated a large international following, and his work is in a number of prestigious private collections both in the UK and abroad. An exhibition of his latest work will be showing from 25th June-30th August at Ransom, 105 Pimlico Road.
