The photographer Go Itami captures Japanese life with quiet delicacy.

Fragments of Japan by Go Itami
Tokyo - SEP 27, 2013

Go Itami shows a different side of Japan in his photographs. His body of work is made up of fragmented visions of street corners, shots of reflections on glass windows, and almost abstract views of the body. Each image is delicate, showing the stillness of everyday life. The portraits of Japanese society seem spontaneous and straightforward, far from an idealized vision of Japanese culture.

As Itami explains his photography is a hybrid, born from a long Japanese tradition of masters like Moriyama, Araki and Nakahira. But he also seeks inspiration in foreign photographers, always searching for his own view point and shying away from simple imitation.
