James Clar shows the power of light
New York City - MAY 27, 2013

James Clar’s light based installations are born from a desire to analyse the impact of media and technology on culture, nationality and identity. His installations reflect the relationship between light and its surroundings, creating a stark contrast between the softness of light and the rigid forms that contain it, manipulating light into abstract and minimalistic forms. This geometric forms reflect the boundaries of technology constructing networks of light and geometry that evoke the connections present in contemporary culture, and the possibilities and limitations that they create. In his work, Clar combines his interest in visual media communication and his experience with globalism, nationalism and pop culture, influenced by his life between New York and Dubai.
