The Ministry of Culture presents during the months of April, May and June the initiative "I have a plan" with free children's workshops in museums in Madrid.

Madrid's museums offer free children's workshops
Madrid - MAR 19, 2013

I have a Plan is an initiative by the Ministry of Culture, the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain and the National Museums Branch with the goal to bring children between 8 and 12 years closer to the cultural heritage. It is an educational initiative that aims to raise awareness to this age group about the importance of protecting cultural heritage in the field of museums.

Through a guided and interactive tour, kids come closer to the museum’s collections. The program will introduce concepts such as the importance of environmental conditions to properly care for and preserve a work, such as humidity, temperature and lighting. They also raise awareness of pest control and care in handling objects.

Each activity is presented by a professional of heritage education, in addition to the necessary teaching materials designed for the activity. This year, the initiative will take place in the State Museums of Madrid, the Cerralbo Museum, the National Museum of Romanticism and the Sorolla Museum. It hopes to expand the program to other museums controlled by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports in the future.
