Troy Coulterman captures the absurd of contemporary life in surreal sculptures

Sculptures of absurd anomalies by Troy Coulterman
Toronto - JUL 01, 2013
The Canadian artist Troy Coulterman creates surreal sculptures that combine neopop and science fiction aesthetics. His complex figures are the reflections of the absurd anomalies of contemporary life. The characters he sculpts show the effect of the fast paced lifestyle that part of today's society is forced to adopt.

Each figure conveys feeling of extreme confusion and anxiety, transforming them into the visualization of the "glitches in the system." As Coulterman explains his work takes as a starting point the "confusing happenings that we may experience in one way or another. In my sculptures I embrace these experiences and translate them into tangible moments that manage to be even more absurd than that from which they came."
