The program "Generation 2013" aims to promote the work of young artists and impulse their visibility.

Throughout its 14 editions, Generations has become a very important platform for emerging art at European and national level. The program has counted each year with the most outstanding names of the contemporary production scene in Spain. The selected young artists have the opportunity to present their work to the general public, critics and professionals of the arts and cultural sector.

The program has counted with the participation of more a thousand of young artists, which, together with the previous calls, added more than 17,000 participants.

These are the ten artists and projects that have been selected: Elena Alonso , lid Irene Andrés, Festival Club. where nothing happens; Manuel Eirís, plate dels Àngels; Santiago Giralda, Rendering Landscapes; Juan López, punishes plasterboard; assumption Mills, The Matam El Mish-Masry (no-egipcio restaurant); William Mora, Penta Pack; Teresa Solar, twice bitten; Julia Spínola, phrase (object), and Martin Vitaliti, #17.

The dissemination of the project is completed with the publication of a bilingual catalogue of the exhibition which is the most important presentation card for the selected artists.

The exhibit, of a multidisciplinary nature, presents a broad overview of the young Spanish creation. The works transmit to the public the concerns that move to the artists and which are a reflection of today's world. Through the use of various media and techniques - painting, drawing, photography, comic, video installation, sound installation or simply installation-, much of generation 2013 authors agree in their respective projects - directly, without any artifice-concepts such as nothingness, ruin, loss or disappearance; an approach that, in tune with what is happening in the world today, is left open to enrichment through the multiple interpretations of the viewers.


Generation 2013 jury has been formed by João Fernande s, Deputy Director of conservation, research and dissemination of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía; Javier Montes, writer and art critic, and Glòria Picazo, Director of the Centre d'art la Panera.
